The Role of Governance in Attracting Foreign Direct Investment in Arab Countries

Abstract: The growing interest in governance in many developed and developing economies in recent years, especially in the wake of the economic collapses and financial crises witnessed by a number of East Asian countries, Latin America and Russia in the nineties of the twentieth century, and also witnessed the US economy from the repercussions of those financial and accounting collapses of a number of American International Companies during 2002. The Arab countries followed suit in their attempts to implement the standards of governance. The concept of governance, its roots, its objectives and the reasons for its need.
