Ultrasonic Study of Molecular Interaction in Binary Liquid Mixtures at 303 K, 308 K and 313 K

S. Rajavelu

Abstract: The ultrasonic velocity (U), the density () and viscosity () of methyl benzoate with 1-Octanol have been measured at 303K, 308K, and 313K over the entire range of composition. From the measured data of ultrasonic velocity, density and viscosity, acoustic parameters such as adiabatic compressibility (), free length (Lf), internal pressure (i), relaxation time () and acoustic impedance (Z) have been estimated using standard relations. The variation of adiabatic compressibility (), free length (Lf), internal pressure (i), relaxation time () and acoustic impedance (Z) with concentration and temperature have been studied. Acoustic parameters provide important information in understanding the solute-solvent interaction in a polymer solution.

Keywords: Adiabatic compressibility, free length, internal pressure, relaxation time, acoustic impedance, binary liquid mixture
