Abstract: A single phase white light emitting Dy3+ ions doped NaCaAlPO4F3 phosphor was synthesized via solid state reaction using flux. The obtained sample was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Optical absorption, Photoluminescence (PL) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) techniques. From powder XRD data, the average crystallite size and structural parameters are evaluated. Absorption spectra shows absorption peaks corresponding to the transitions from the 6H15/2 ground state to various excited energy levels. Transition probabilities, branching ratios and radiative lifetime were evaluated by using JuddOfelt analysis. Photoluminescence spectra shows three prominent emission bands centered at 480, 577 and 624 nm corresponding to the 4F9/26HJ (J = 15/2, 13/2 and 11/2) transitions respectively. From the emission transitions, stimulated emission cross-section (e) and gain bandwidth (GBW) were predicted. The colorimetric parameters CIE coordinates, Correlated colour temperature (CCT) of the prepared phosphor understands the suitability of these material for white light generation. FT-IR spectrum exhibits the characteristic vibration bands of the prepared phosphor material.
