A Case of Viral Pneumonia (H1N1)-An Unusual Presentation

Abstract: Influenza viruses are the common respiratory pathogens causing serious infections leading to pneumonia. The number of cases with influenza like illness with severe fatal pneumonia increased leading to identification of H1N1 influenza A virus in march, 2009. Most cases reported severe viral pneumonitis requiring ICU admission. Chest radiographs and pathology showed ARDS picture and treated with low tidal volume ventilation, high PEEP. People with predisposing immunocompromised conditions are at increased risk.
