Abstract: It is the God given right of every human being to appear human Facial disfigurement can be the result of a congenital anomaly or any pathological condition. One defects due to pathological or congenital causes is one of the most challenging areas of oral and maxillofacial reconstruction. The main purpose of reconstructive efforts is to protect and improve patient quality of life by trying to restore normal from and function. Craniofacial prostheses, also known as EPISTHESES, are artificial substitutes for facial defects. There are various retentive aids for maxillofacial prosthesis. Implant is retentive aids has various advantages. This review article describes craniofacial implant, criteria and principle for success of implant, coupling of implant and prosthesis, biomechanical consideration and extraoral implant system.
