Modern Architecture in Historic Cities of Afghanistan: A Case Study of Kabul

Abstract: Afghanistan has developed its own new language of architecture from various influences from all over the globe. This paper deals with the influences of ancient Afghan architecture and its indigenous style, and how the architecture developed over years. It aims at examining the ancient features of residential architecture in Afghanistan, and understand the new language of the same being used currently. To trace the evolution, ancient features of residential architecture are examined, followed by the changing trends, gradually leading to the current status of architecture in Afghanistan with an example of the city of Kabul [1] [2] [6].
