Abstract: The present work investigated the variability of TEC over equatorial station Bhopal during stormy days of 2014. We have used NovAtelGPS receiver (a 12 channel dual frequency) with embedded software to calculate and store. TEC values in HDD of the PC via an RS-232 cable to accomplish this study. Global Positioning System (GPS) is currently one of the most popular global satellite positioning systems due to global availability of signal and performances. From our analysis we observed that the value of TEC increases as the intensity of storm increases. It is clear from our study that it takes 3 to 6 hours to get highest TEC variation. Storms can occur any time and any day of any season. We have also studied the variation in interplanetary magnetic field, interplanetary electric field, Kp index, and Dst index of the respective storm. The variations are irregular therefore cannot be predicted in advance but have important effects on radio wave propagation. These storms may occur without warning and may prevail for any length of time.
