Cultural Intelligence as a Moderator of Acculturative Stress to Health among College Students

Abstract: The present examines the moderating role of cultural intelligence in the relationship of acculturative stress and health in a sample of 219 Kashmiri college students (male = 52.10 %, female = 47.90 %). Cultural intelligence were assessed with the help of cultural intelligence scale (Ang, et al. , 2004). While as Acculturative stress was measured by using Social, Attitudinal, Familial, and Environmental Scale Short Form (SAFE-SF, Mena, Padilla, & Maldonado, 1987), and General Health Questionnaire (Goldberg & Hillier, 1979) was used to evaluated general health of the participants. Result of hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed that cultural intelligence was significant moderator of the relationship between acculturative stress and somatic symptom aspect of general health only. Relevance of the present findings for students cultural intelligence, acculturative stress, and health has been implicated.
