Lean and Agile Supply Chain: Strategy for Increased Agility in Supply Chain Management

Abstract: Through this research work we will the exploring some fundamental concepts of supply chain management while laying emphasis on the concept and agile and lean supply management and seeking to determine its importance in gaining a competitive advantage, todays market place is characterized by increased volatility, global competition, political environments subject to unexpected discontinuities. As suck businesses must always seek to meet up with changes in demand volatility, improving on time delivery and shorter customer lead times. In order to survive companies needs to respond to ever increasing level of volatility in demand and focus their efforts upon achieving greater agility, thus rapidly respond to changes in market and customer demands, as the bearer of competitive advantage. companies today must therefore seek to design their supply chain to gain advantage by tackling issues of agility to stay competitive in the market place.
