A Model for Effective Practice: Literature Circle to Enhancing Students Critical Reading

Abstract: When you compose assignments at University, it's important to supply your reader with a convincing argument. You want to present a disagreement that your answer may be the correct one, you should convince the reader of the one method of convincing or persuading your reader is normally to provide them with good proof to back again up your argument. Critical reading can be an essential section of the information gathering process that's needed is to create an academically sound assignment. At its most elementary level, critical reading involves not really taking for granted whatever you read. Whenever you go through journal content, or other little bit of text, you should be convinced by the author's argument. This study examined the effectiveness of using Literature Circle in university student of PGRI of Semarang University. The research was designed in accordance with tenets of sociocultural theory, dialogic talk, exploratory talk, discourse, and the transactional theory of reading. The study found a low incidence of dialogue (dialogic communication, elaboration and co-building of ideas, productive disciplinary discourse) in 16 weeks planning meetings. The most qualified students took leadership in groups and made the majority of the conceptual contributions. Although there was a reasonable amount of time spent connecting theories to instances, there was little time spent in high-level analysis and very few instances of true dialogic discourse. The majority of time was devoted to activities involving organizing, planning and logistics and organizing the demonstration. This research conduct to enhance student's critical reading skill
