Fibromatosis colli in a Neonate - A Rare Case Report
Narendar Reddy.P | Sravan Kumar.K [2] | Anil U. Madurwar
Abstract: Fibromatosis colli or pseudotumor of infancy of the sternocleidomastoid muscle is a rare cause of a benign neck mass in neonates and infants. Though exact etiology is not known, it is most likely due to birth trauma. Ultrasonography is the imaging modality of choice and nearly all the cases are correctly diagnosed if clinical and radiologically suspected. This entity is a self-limiting condition and resolves over a period of time. If diagnosed correctly can be managed conservatively and prevent unnecessary diagnostic and therapeutic maneuvers. We report a rare case of fibromatosis colli in a 1 month old neonate diagnosed using ultrasonography.
