The Effect of Tranformational Leadership Style on the Lecturers? Performance at University: Study at Bussiness Administration Program Telkom University

Abstract: This research is about the effect of transformational leadership style on the performance. Study conducted at Business Administration progam, with the aim of study is to determine the effect of the transformational leadership style on the performance of permanent lecturers. The method used is quantitative research through descriptive analysis approach. Data collection technique is saturated sampling with simple regression analysis method. The variables of transformational leadership style, are Idealized Influence, Inspirational Motivation, Intellectual Stimulation, and Individualized Consideration, and the variables of the performance are Quantity and quality of work, working time, cooperation, and team work. The result of this research shows that transformational leadership style have a positive effect on the lectures performance but not significant. The effect of transformational leadership on the lectures performance reached 11 % and 89 % remaining is influenced by other variables that not part of this study. The most weakness of the lecturers performance is the timely attendance, which is part of working time. That weakness can improved through increasing dimensions of Inspirational Motivation, where the leaders get the commitment to be able to enforce discipline.
