To Study the Utility of Synthesis Repertory in Cases of Hemorrhoids

Abstract: Hemorrhoids are one such disease which challenges the modern treatment namely local medication and surgical removal. Half the population suffers from this disease with bleeding, pain, itching, prolapse or altered bowel habits. This causes extreme inconvenience which hurdles and hinders the patient’s daily routine with great mental agony and anxiety. In Homoeopathy, Hemorrhoids are treated as not local but as derangement in the dynamic vital force that are expressed out through signs and symptoms of bleeding, pain, itching and prolapse and are corrected only by means of dynamic medicines, which are capable of producing artificial similar diseases in healthy individuals, in a safe, gentle and effective manner. Objectives: To review the literature of the utility of synthesis repertory in cases of hemorrhoids to select 50 cases of patients suffering from hemorrhoids, to do proper case taking to individualize each case, to select the most similar medicine on the basis of similia similibus curanter, to evaluate the role of homoeopathic treatment and to keep regular follow-up of the case to observe the action of remedy. Result: Out of 50 cases 40 show improvement, whereas 10 cases remained unimproved. In maximum number of cases constipation and prolonged sitting was found to be the main predisposing factor for hemorrhoids. During the study sulphur was the indicated medicine prescribed in maximum number of patients, other medicines being Lachesis, Nux vomica, Calcarea carb, Bryonia and Lycopodium. Conclusion: The finding of the above study concluded that 94 % of the cases responded well to the indicated homoeopathy similmum by using Synthesis repertory. This study proved the utility of synthesis repertory in cases of hemorrhoids precisely.
