Delivery Characteristic of Patients with Placenta Previa at Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar

Abstract: Placenta previa is one of the most serious complications during pregnancy and is associated with various maternal and fetal-neonatal complications. Risk factors for placenta previa that have been frequently mentioned in various studies are age, multiparity, multiple pregnancies, history of cesarean section, history of uterine surgery, history of use. assisted reproduction technology (ART), smoking, use of addictive substances, a history of maternal medical illnesses, and so on. This study aims to determine the prevalence and characteristics of patients with placenta previa at Sanglah General Hospital, Denpasar. This research is a retrospective descriptive study using secondary data. The research was conducted at IRD Obstetrics, Polyclinic Obstetrics, and Installation of Medical Records at Sanglah Hospital Denpasar, on January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2019. The incidence of placenta previa from a total of 1898 deliveries in 2018 to 2019 was 2.63%. The greatest maternal characteristics were mothers aged over 35 years, multigravida, non-referral, 28-36 weeks of gestation, no history of curettage, with a history of previous CS, a history of recurrent bleeding and a history of placenta previa in previous pregnancies.
