Sins of Human Memory

Abstract: Human memory is inclined to mistakes and distortion. It has been recommended that memory's wrongdoings can be grouped into seven classes or 'sins'. This article examines the effect of media and innovation on four memory sins: transience (neglecting over the long run), absent-mindedness (slips in consideration that produce neglecting), misattribution (crediting a memory to some unacceptable source), and suggestibility (embedded recollections).
