Furthermore, the article examines the shift in penological approaches, particularly the growing emphasis on restorative justice and compensation for victims. By dissecting the Indian legal framework, the article underscores recent legislative advancements in victim rights and compensation. It also reflects on the historical context of victimology, drawing parallels to ancient principles of retribution and restitution. The paper concludes with a critical analysis of the role of the judiciary and policymakers in shaping a victim-centric justice system, advocating for comprehensive legal and emotional support for victims to restore their dignity and place in society.
