A Study to Assess the Knowledge on Breastfeeding among Group of Primi Postnatal Mothers Admitted in Selected Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal

Abstract: A descriptive study was undertaken to Assess the Knowledge On Breastfeeding Among Group Of Primi Post Natal Mothers Admitted In Selected Hospital In Kolkata, West Bengal. Conceptual framework of the study was based on the Health Belief Model of Rosenstoch?s (1974) and Becker and Mauman?s (1975). A sample of 50 primi postnatal mothers were selected by nonprobablity purposive sampling technique. The findings of the study revealed that there most of the primi mothers (50%) has satisfactory knowledge. Data further reveal that there is no significant relationship between knowledge and demographic variable i. e. type of family, education of the mother. The study has implication in the field of nursing practice, nursing education, administration and nursing research.
