Abstract: A study to access the synthesis of chalcone derivatives from substituted hydroxyacetophenones with substituted benzaldehyde using basic alumina under microwave conditions offers several advantages over traditional methods. This includes a clean reaction process, simple workup and quick reaction times and high product yields. Characterization of the produced compounds was conducted using elemental analysis, 1H NMR, IR and mass spectral data. Our study delves into the multifaceted biological activities of chalcones, shedding light on their potential as antibacterial and antifungal agents in combating a range of diseases. Through comprehensive biological investigations, we elucidate the significance of chalcones in modern drug discovery and development, offering insights into their diverse pharmacological properties and therapeutic potential.
