Radiotherapy in Hepatocellular Carcinoma - A Review of Literature
Ankita Pandey
Abstract: Our knowledge of how radiation affects primary and secondary liver tumours is still developing. Decades ago, radiation delivery methods that treated large numbers of patients also cautioned against using radiation for definitive and palliative care. Over time, the function of radiation therapy in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma has changed. New information regarding HCC therapy choices has been made possible by the capacity to administer a tumoradical dose to liver lesions while protecting the normal parenchyma surrounding them. The purpose of the review article is to cone down various treatment approaches that were traditionally used to treat hepatocellular carcinoma and the gradual adaptation of the radiation therapy to treat lesions that failed to respond to other therapies.
