A. B. Sarwade, N. A. Kamble
Abstract: Quantitative assessment of plankton was carried out from various sites of the Mhaishallake, in the period of January, 2011 to December, 2013. Phytoplankton diversity was observed in distinctgroups asCyanophyceae, Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Desmidiaceae, Acanthocystidae and Miscellaneous. Among these, Bacillariophyceaewas found dominating with othereleven species. Diversity of ZooplanktonsincludedProtozoa, Rotifera, ChrysophyceaeandCercomonadida. Protozoans werefound to be dominating with ninediversified species among themselves. The obtained planktonic data was discussed with water quality of Mhaishallake by applying stastical methods for the diversity indices.
