A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Health Education on Knowledge with Reference to Prevention and Home Management of Diarrhoea Among Mothers of Under Five Children in Selected Rural Area at Karad Taluka

Abstract: Objectives: To assess the knowledge of mother of under five children with reference to diarrhea. To assess the knowledge of mothers of under five children with reference to prevention of diarrhea. To assess the knowledge of mother of under five children with reference to home management of diarrhea. To assess the effectiveness of health education on knowledge with reference to prevention and home management of diarrhea among mothers of under five children. To find the association of knowledge score on prevention and home management of diarrhea with selected demographic variable. Methodology- The study was conducted on 100 mothers of underfive children in selected rural areas of Karad. The tool used for data collection was a structured knowledge questionnaire. An evaluative approach was used. Non probability purposive sampling technique was used. Pre-experimental one group pretest post design was used. The study adopted King Imogene goal attainment theory. RESULTS: The pre test and post test data analysis revealed that the mean post score (22.44 +2.401) was higher than the mean pre test score (7+3.473). CONCLUSION: The study concluded that health education is an effective method for providing knowledge with reference to prevention and home management of diarrhea.
