Fixed Dental Prostheses: A Systematic Review of the Survival and Complication Rates
Entela Fuga, Gafur Shtino
Abstract: The aim of the study was to assess the 5-year survival rate and number of technical, biologic, and esthetic complications involving implant abutments. Electronic (Medline) and hand searches were performed to assess studies on metal and ceramic implant abutments. Relevant data from a previous review were included. Failure and complication rates were analyzed, and estimates of 3-year survival proportions were calculated from the relationship between event rate and survival function. The search yielded 1, 558 titles and 274 s. Twenty-four studies were selected for data. Survival rates of metal-ceramic FDPs were higher than those reported for other types of all-ceramic FDPs.
