The Parametric Analysis of Jabalpur Airport Based on IS 1893(Part I): 2016 and IS16700: 2017

Abstract: This study focuses on comparison of I.S1893(Part I):2016 (Criteria for Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures) and I.S.16700:2017 (Criteria for Structural Safety of Tall Concrete Buildings).The study also helps in understanding the main contributing factors which lead to poor performance of structure during the earthquake, so as to achieve their adequate safe behavior under future earthquakes. In this project, a Jabalpur-Airport building of Special RC moment-resting frame (SMRF) is taken for study. Modeling of the structure is done as per SAP.pro V20i software. Time period of the structure in both the direction is taken from the software and as per the two Indian standards. The results of the structure are then compared for of any significant differences in base shear, displacement as well as mass participation. The results shows IS 16700:2017 gives poor performance in earthquake as compared IS 1893 (Part I):2016.
