Impact on Quality of Life of Glycolic Acid (35%) and Salicylic Acid (30%) Peels in Patients of Melasma

Abstract: Melasma is one of the most commonly acquired disorder of the skin that is characterized by an asymmetrical macular pigmentation mostly on sun exposed areas like the face [1], usually involving areas like forehead, temples, upper lips and chin [2]. It has a serious impact on the quality of life and is usually challenging to treat prevalence in pregnancy is found to be around 50- 70% [3]. Also known as the make of pregnancy triggering factors like sun exposure, pregnancy, use of oral contraceptives and other steroids, consumption of certain food items, ovarian tumors, intestinal parasitoses, hepatopathies, hormone replacement therapy, use of cosmetics and photosensitizing drugs, procedures and inflammatory processes of the skin, and stressful events are known [4].
