Phytochemical Analysis and Chromatographic Profiling of Hedychium coronarium J. Koenig
Manju Verma, Yogendra Kumar Bansal
Abstract: The study presents a comprehensive phytochemical analysis of Hedychium coronarium J. Koenig, a plant with significant medicinal properties. Utilizing methanolic extraction, the research investigates the presence of various secondary metabolites in different plant parts, both naturally grown and in vitro. Thin - layer chromatography TLC is employed to qualitatively and quantitatively assess these compounds. The findings highlight the presence of alkaloids, glycosides, saponins, phenolic compounds, carbohydrates, flavonoids, reducing sugar, steroids, and terpenoids. This research contributes to understanding the plants potential in traditional and modern medicine.
